Just outside of Loulé, Portugal in a town called Alto do Relógio is a wheelchair accessible hotel that offers stunning views across a valley and sea. A wheelchair accessible van can greet you at the Faro airport for your convenience. This van is also available to tour the wheelchair traveler and companions around Portugal and is equipped to handle a power wheelchair.
The view on the hillside is magnificent no matter if your in your room, pool, or walking around. There are ramps down to the pool as well as a lift to get you into the pool.
There are two wheelchair accessible rooms and both bathrooms have roll-in showers. Both rooms are vary spacious with living area, outdoor patio, and kitchen. These rooms can accommodate larger parties. One room can sleep 6 people, 8 if using the pull-out couch. The larger of the two rooms has an electric bed with a side-rail that drops down and a grab bar overhead. This feature alone makes this a great place for those who are quadriplegics.
It is a rural location so enjoy the intimacy of this quaint town. The hotel does have a cafe/bar as well as a small shop selling essentials. There is a very good restaurant a little down the road. In addition, there is a new supermarket just 2 minutes from the hotel, offering anything you might need 7 days a week. A short drive is the main area of Loulé where a wheelchair traveler has access to many shops (not all), supermarkets and restaurants. One destination is a must is the beach, which is about a 20 minute drive.
