VA Beach House
The owner included accessibility features in the house for her husband. He had surgery to remove a brain tumor and was left without fine or gross motor control. He needed to use a wheelchair for his own safety and required safety bars in the shower and bathroom. Unfortunately his tumor returned and he passed away before the home was completed. The owner wants to share this beautiful house with others. She knows from personal experience how hard it can be to find truly accessible vacation properties.
The owner gives discounts on the rental fee to anyone needing the accessibility features of the house.

The house includes a ramp to the front porch to access the main level of the house. On that level there are two bedrooms, both with full, private bathrooms. One of the bathrooms includes a wheel-in shower with fold down seat and plenty of safety bars around the toilet. The sink cabinet includes a gap at the bottom for chair foot rests. The kitchen, also on the main level, includes two sinks. One has a fully open cabinet underneath for a wheelchair. There is also a pull out drawer for plate and bowl storage. Access to the deck (also with a slight ramp) is on this level.
By wheeling down the driveway (or being driven in a car) to the back of the house, you can access the garage and the lower level of the house. The lower level includes a rec room and a beautiful theatre room with reclining seats and a 105” screen with projector. This level also is the start of a gentle paver pathway that winds its way down to the dock and the water.
Down at the dock you can enjoy fishing, swimming, and using the provided kayak and pedal boat. There is also a sandy beach area for little kids. The house is located on a quiet cove on the private/warm side of Lake Anna and comfortable swimming is possible 6 months of the year. If you have a boat, there is a community boat launch available for use by renters. There is also a community swimming pool and tennis court.
