Traveling to Portugal may be challenging when it comes to navigating over streets and sidewalks made of cobblestones with a wheelchair. To prepare for Portugal travel, watch this short video (less than 1 minute) to see what accessibility is like.

“The makeup of the sidewalks and streets is one of the most challenging aspects to traveling to Portugal,” explains Tourism for All founder and Portuguese native, José António Bourdain, “especially in the old neighborhoods where the government fights to preserve.” Nonetheless, Bourdain is happy to see “weekly improvements of old neighborhoods. It’s quite nice to see that,” along with “progress on the streets and sidewalks, monuments, and other places.”

At fourteen I became paralyzed but the love for adventure did not vanish. I want to see and experience this world. As the founder of wheelchairtraveling.com I believe in creating an accessible world and together we can make that happen. Be seen to be heard.
