The small town of Talkeetna has a few shops and restaurants for tourists and an accessible shuttle that takes visitors from the Talkeetna Lodge to local destinations. The shuttle can accommodate two wheelchairs.
Lodge Access Details
- Main Doors: Have automatic buttons to open doors.
- Check-in desk: Does not have a lowered section.
- Elevator: Yes, to every floor.
- Patio: The large patio is a main attraction of the hotel as it faces the mountains of Denali. Ramps give visitors in wheelchairs access to the patio decks.
- Food and Drinks: There are three dining options at the lodge, and all have a full bar. Formal dining is one of the options, and reservations are recommended. The tables and chairs can be moved to accommodate guests in wheelchairs.
- Trail: A dirt trail wraps around a meadow near the property. The trailheads are at an incline, so wheelchairs with power assistance with fare better. The trail is also notorious for mosquitoes, so come prepared.
- Washing Machines: The hotel offers guests a money-operated washer and dryer for clothes. Some machines are stacked on top of each other and some are next to one another.
- Office Computer: Around the corner from the lobby is a computer workspace for guests.
Room Access Details
Some of the rooms have ADA roll-in showers while others have a bathtub setup, but these rooms have a mounted shower bench with a hand-held nozzle and a roll-up sink. Rooms also have a lower closet.
- Room 134 has a bathtub with two double beds.
- Room 136 has a roll-in shower with two double beds.
- Rooms 216 and 218 have king beds with a bathtub and the option for an adjoining, non-accessible room.
- Rooms 130 and 132 have a king bed with a bathtub.
- Room 339 is a suite with a king bed and a roll-in shower with the option for an adjoining, non-accessible room.
