Hotel James, nestled in the heart of Chico, California, offers a charming retreat with one wheelchair accessible room. A wine bar, beer tap room, and restaurant are located in the same parking lot.

One designated handicapped parking space is located in front and the ramp is to the left of the front door. Upon arrival, guests use a push-button code entry for both the main and room doors, eliminating the need for assistance from hotel staff. This feature ensures autonomy and seamless access for all guests. The main room is the kitchen. While the kitchen offers continental breakfast items, it’s worth noting that specific wheelchair accommodations are not provided in this area, like a lowered table.

The “Merlot” accessible room includes a king-sized bed along with a roll-in shower, roll-up sink, and grab bars ensuring convenience and ease of use for guests with mobility challenges. It’s important to note that the hand-held shower nozzle and main shower head stay on at the same time; however, the water warms up fast. The bathroom does not have a lowered hook for robes or towels. A large hutch in room allows guests to unpack, but no lowered clothing bar is installed.
