Accessible Rooms
The Windsor Inn has two accessible rooms, and only one of them has a roll-in shower. The second accessible room has a bathtub/shower combination with grab bars, which may suit travelers who use a tub transfer bench, prefer a bath, or can stand with support.
Both rooms are hard to get and often book up far in advance, so reserve as early as you can. Call the hotel directly at (541) 488-2330 to confirm which accessible room you’ve been assigned, and if you need the roll-in shower, say so specifically.
The Roll-In Shower Room
The roll-in shower room has a level entry with no step at the door, and the door has a lever handle with a keycard lock.
Inside, the room has two queen beds, a desk with a rolling chair, a dresser with a TV and mini fridge, and a small seating area by the window with two armchairs and a round table. There’s a good amount of open floor space, including a clear path between the beds and the dresser and enough room to pull up between the two beds. The carpet is low-pile and easy enough to roll on in a power chair, though manual chair users may notice some resistance. Heating and cooling are handled by a wall-mounted unit with a remote.
The sink and vanity sit outside the bathroom in a small alcove. The counter is open underneath for a roll-under approach. The pipes under the sink are exposed, and the trash can is kept under the counter, so you may want to move it aside for knee clearance.
The bathroom floor is tiled throughout, and the shower is a true roll-in with no lip, separated by a curtain on a curved rod. It has a handheld shower head on a slide bar, grab bars on two walls, and recessed soap dishes. The hotel has recently added a mounted shower bench. According to Best Western, the handheld wand is height-adjustable and has a hose at least 60 inches long.
The toilet has a grab bar on the side wall. The bathroom door swings outward into the room, which leaves more floor space inside the bathroom.
Arrival and Parking
The hotel is easy to reach from I-5: take Exit 14 and head east, and the hotel is about half a mile ahead on the right. The nearest airport is Rogue Valley International in Medford, roughly 18.5 miles away.
Accessible parking is marked in the lot close to the building. The lot is paved and mostly level. EV charging stations are also on site.
The lobby entrance is reached from a concrete sidewalk alongside the parking lot. A short wedge ramp covers the step at the lobby door. It worked fine for me, but it’s a small add-on ramp rather than a fully flush entry, so take it slowly.
Getting Around the Property
The property has two stories with no elevator, and rooms open onto exterior corridors. Concrete walkways run through the landscaped courtyard to the ground-floor room doors, and the paths I used were smooth and level.
Amenities
Other amenities include free breakfast, a seasonal outdoor pool, a hot tub open year-round, and complimentary EV charging, along with guest laundry and a fitness center. I didn’t confirm whether the pool or hot tub has a lift, so ask the hotel if that matters to you.
Service animals are welcome, and the hotel’s pet policy doesn’t apply to them, so there’s no pet fee for service animals.
Nearby
Oak Tree Bar and Grill is right next door, and a couple of other casual restaurants are a short distance away along Ashland Street. Downtown Ashland, Lithia Park and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival theaters are about ten minutes away by car.
